Yuma Police say two people have been transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center following shots fired and a woman’s scream at 24th Street and James Drive.
It happened around 9:21 p.m. Sunday night by the Granada Estates where police then closed off the street with tape. A white four-door sedan was seen parked in the middle of James Drive with the driver’s side door open and airbag deployed. No word yet from police if shots were fired at the car.
In what seems to be a second incident, although not confirmed if related, Yuma police then pulled over a white Ford Expedition at 24th Street and S. Mary Avenue. Eight Yuma police cruisers surrounded the car. Authorities had weapons drawn. The driver, a Hispanic male standing at about 6’4″, walked out of the car with hands cuffed. What appeared to be a Hispanic female passenger was also told to get out of the vehicle. Police sent in a canine unit in for a final sweep of the car. No one else was found inside the vehicle.
Yuma Police are also on the look out for a Honda Hatchback and Black Tahoe that might have been seen pulled over by Yuma Police in a Fry’s parking lot off 24th Street and 4th Avenue.
Yuma police say the incident at Fry’s supermarket has not been related to the other one at this time.
