YUMA, Ariz. – The 15th Annual Tribute of the Muses honors Yuma area artists Friday night for their contributions to the city with their work. Two awards will be presented at the Yuma Historic Theatre at 7 p.m. at the Grecian themed event. What’s known as the Muse award recognizes an artist’s career and body of work. The Helios award is given to up and coming artists who have made a significant impact so far and show great potential. Nominees include performance artists, teachers and mentors, or even advocates of the arts.
“The nominees are turned in by people from the community who want to honor those that they observed over the years or that they’ve worked with so it’s actually a great award because it’s from the people for the people,” said Production Supervisor Patrick Quinn.
A special Honorarium is given to the late Bob McCain, a long-time member of the community theatre who made a significant impact to keep the historic site running today.
