YUMA, Ariz. – Fifteen foreign nationals were arrested in two separate incidents after U.S. Border Patrol (BP) agents caught them red handed smuggling large amounts of marijuana into Yuma County.
The most recent seizure happened Sunday when agents found seven suspected smugglers, two from Honduras and five from Mexico, one of which is a minor. BP agents say they found them south of Interstate-8 (I-8) with six bundles of pot.
The other incident happened last Thursday when agents found eight men, north of I-8, carrying six bundles of marijuana as well.
Agents say the contraband from the two incidents weighed almost 550 pounds and had an approximate street value of about $270,000 combined.
All suspects were processed by BP.
