Two dead after head-on crash on I-8 update

YUMA, Ariz.- A crash on Interstate 8 in Yuma turned deadly Tuesday morning.

Police say 60-year-old, David Bealer from Yuma was driving a Honda and was traveling westbound along I-8 when his vehicle was struck by 80-year-old, Dorothy Paul, from Yuma, who was driving a Buick the wrong way on I-8.

Bealer was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

He died while he was being taken to a hospital in the Phoenix area.

Bealer was a Superintendent at San Pasqual Valley Unified School District. Students and faculty at the school placed a memorial where Bealer parked his car.

The school board president issued a statement of his passing saying quote: “It is with the greatest of sadness that we deliver to you today the heartbreaking news of the death of our Superintendent, Dr. David E. Bealer. The district has been informed that Dr. Bealer was involved in a car accident on Tuesday morning on his way to work. We send our most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his family. We will continue to keep you informed as more information becomes available.”
