YUMA, Ariz. –

Hello everyone this week I checked out two movies – “Hail Ceasar” and “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’.
Hail Ceasar starring George Clooney and Josh Brolin is set in 1950’s Hollywood. The two are accompanied by an all-star cast including Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansen, and Jonah Hill.
The action starts when the biggest star in Hollywood gets kidnapped and it’s up to Josh Brolin’s character to not let the media find out before they get him back. Because it’s the 1950’s communism is a theme of the film -but I’ll leave it at that. Hail Ceasar is full of great dialogue and comedic moments. But- I feel like this movie is more of a praise to how great hollywood was in the 1950’s and most jokes might only be understood by those in the industry. Although funny and quirky there are confusing moments and that’s why I’m giving Hail Ceasar 3 out of 5 Andy’s.

On to “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” ….but mostly pride and prejudice. For those of you who might know the book by Jane Austen – the story centers around romance in 19th century England.
But this film has a twist with a zombie apocalypse. What I liked about the film is how believable Lily James and Sam Riley portray zombie killers.  From the very beginning the movie captures the viewer because of the cinematic technique and a particular shot when killing a zombie. This movie was more of a love story about sisters looking to find a rich husband but with some zombies in the mix. They did have some cool zombie killing moments in there but none that I’m going to remember as the best zombie kill ever.  Except once the action begins to pick up – it stops and moves on to something else – disrupting what could have made for a scary moment. This isn’t the best love story nor the best zombie movie and that’s why i’m giving this film 3 and a half out of five Andy’s! As always I am Andy Canchola bringing you your box office movie reviews every Friday now back to you at the desk!
